We had the fever.  Jon was out doing what Jeff and Matt wanted to do but couldn’t due to Lonesome Cottage.  Jeff and Matt founded Lonesome Cottage Furniture Co. and it had grown to the point where they had 25 employees and they were ready for a change.  After watching Jon having all the fun at the job, the decision was made to sell the company (and get back into the family business), and did so in November of 2003.  Jeff and Matt had their very own little mid-life crisis!!  

So how does Brian fit in?? A long time friend (all of us Pequot Lakes High School graduates), and also our long time CPA, we have been working with Brian for many years.  In the summer months of 2005, Brian also decided to leave his corporate job as a CPA to join the Lands End guys……we’ve been trying to get him for some time!!

Lands End Development has continued building high end spec homes with great success and that is one of the cornerstones of our company.  But we have also found that for every one person wanting to talk to us about buying one of our spec homes, there are 20 others that would like to talk to us about building a home.   And thus, we have begun designing and building custom homes.  In a very short time, we feel we will be the most sought after builder in the Brainerd Lakes Area. 

That’s how it started, an idea and four guys wanting to make a different life for themselves and their families.  On the average day you’ll find Jon moving from job to job coordinating sub-contractors and keeping things moving. Jeff’s usually working on a home design for a client (they are always “his best yet”), Matt’s probably in the office talking on the phone (we’ll let you know if he ever tells us what it is exactly he does) and Brian is usually in the office making sure all the projects are on budget!! 

So if you are looking for a company that is large enough to handle any residential project, cabin or castle, but without the corporate feel, Lands End is right for you.  If you are looking for a company small enough to cater to your every need, Lands End is right for you.  If you are looking for a company in which the owners are just a phone call away (even if you just want to talk about how the Twins or the Wild did last night), Lands End is right for you.  If you are looking for a company made up of just plain good people, Lands End is right for you.  Maybe you forgot to turn a light off or the heat down when you left, Lands End is right for you.    

So call us, we love nothing more than showing off our work!!  We’ll get together and listen to your goals, explain the process, visit a current project underway and a previously completed project.  We’ll introduce you to everyone, there are about 12 of us now.  As for the homes, we’ll let them speak for themselves….
